The ABC’s of becoming a Christian
“A” stands for Admit. A person must admit to God that he or she is a sinner. You must be sorry for your sin and turn away from sinning. Verses that support this step are Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Acts 3:19; and 1 John 1:9.
“B” stands for Believe. A person must believe that Jesus is God’s Son and that God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for sin. Verses about believing include John 3:16; John 14:6; and Romans 5:8.
“C” stands for Confess. A person must confess their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Read Romans 10:9-10, 13.
After a person admits to God that he or she is a sinner, repents and turns from their sin, believes that Jesus is God’s Son sent to die to pay for the sins of the world, and confesses that faith in Jesus, they are a Christian and knows Jesus as their Savior.
What to pray:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Now that you have asked Jesus into your life how do you continue that relationship.
1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As Christ’s representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
